Which of you guys out there consider yourself fairly organised and focused? It is one of my biggest pitfalls. I put my nose in a book, and literally feel my eyes begin drooping because there is just so much theory to be learned (I'm learning about anatomy for drawing). See, this is the problem. I am so excited about the finished products and all these visions for drawings in my mind. But then I can't get them out without first learning all these basics of construction first. And I am SO IMPATIENT. I just want to skip it all, but know I can't. Because I won't get anywhere.
So, I guess I'm just asking. Have any of you guys ever had a goal that you wished you could achieve so badly, but the only thing between you and accomplishing it was time, willpower, and a matter of keeping the passion for it alive along the way? How did you motivate yourself and organise your stepping stones in a manner that makes the journey bearable, and even ENJOYABLE and satisfying the whole way? How did you organise your time to make some real progress?
I feel like if I don't figure this out and get myself on track, my art will never go anywhere but round and round in my mind. I feel like my art skills are all scrambled up. Like there are certain advanced techniques I've somehow picked up on my own, but yet there are so many basics that I have never learned. And it's just so hard to go back and force myself to learn those. It's just hard because learning anatomy, perspective, etc. is like learning the 'math' of art. And I have never been thrilled about math. I'm just better at envisioning things, and not so passionate about analysing how things work, you know? But I have to do it somehow. And I have to figure out how to make it fun somehow and stick to it.
Basically, I guess I'm just asking.. how do you guys practice?
